Morning On The Brazos River
WELCOME
- Indian Springs Ranch is located on 1/2 mile of the Brazos River 8 miles upstream from Possum Kingdom lake
and 7 miles from Graham, Texas in Young County.
- I raise all black AKC German Shepherds. They were purchased from separate breeders and have champion
bloodlines. The male (ACE) was 7 years old in May, 2011. The female (LADY) is six years old.
- The site is continually under construction and photos will be updated. For now I'm showing the dogs
growing up on the ranch and the great life they lead. Also, are a full range of photos which includes the
varied geography of the area with some cowboy wisdom and humor thrown in.
- The dogs were bred from working and show lines. They are very social and extremely loyal. I know the pups
will make excellent pets for any varied lifestyle, great with kids or just setting next to you in your pickup. ACE
and LADY have family all over the world. ACE had a brother in the military working with his handler. I have two
flag poles at 40'. On the back hill is the USA flag and the one by the river is the Texas flag. When we go on the
hill, I've taught ACE to set and bark when we look up at the flag. I always tell him to SUPPORT OUR TROOPS
and your brothers in harms way "In some dog way I believe he understands". I've scanned their pedigree and
registration at AKC for your conformation. The shepherds are bred to have a 'smooth coat of hair' which helps
with the heat of summer, shedding problems and tangled hair.
- Their daily life consists to running in the hills and fields with a good swim in the river to cool off. I drive
around the ranch in what I call a APV (All Purpose Vehicle). It is a highly modified 48 volt electric all terrain.
The dogs sometimes ride in the back which has a 16 sq./ ft. bed. With all the wild game around, you can
sometimes ride up on deer and wild turkeys. I keep deer and turkey feeders out year long. I built a large 25'
observation deck on a hill by the river where you can easily call game with an electronic caller. There have
been many a day when you can hear the coyotes at 360 deg. One pack will start on the left, then another starts
trying to outdo them, before long - you have "surround sound". ACE, KING, LADY, JACK and TENNY try to
out howl the pack leaders and they can put on quite a show - You won't see this on the "Dog Whisperer".
- The German Shepherd is a natural herder as witnessed by them sometimes herding stray cattle from the
ranch next door. My neighbor who has raised horses and herding dogs for over 50 years told me - "The
German Shepherd may not be the best dog for any one discipline but there is no other breed that can cover all
tasks better" and he's right. A very IMPRESSIVE DOG with there BLACK COAT and ALMOND EYES.
